Pasieka Island in Opole is a natural island, created after the great flood in 1600, between the Odra River and its branch Młynówka. Once in its northern part there was a medieval settlement - Ostrówek. There was also a Piast castle here for a century, the remnant of which is the Piast Tower today. The castle was demolished by the Germans in 1928, because it was a pity for them to maintain the obsolete building, and in the place of the castle, they erected a modern building at that time, with the Pater Noster elevator preserved to this day. On Pasieka Island there is also the famous Opole Amphitheater, where the Polish Song Festival has been held since 1963, the Castle Park with the Ice House and the Castle Pond with a multimedia fountain. Another interesting fact is the Song Museum, where you will learn about the history of the Polish music scene and the festival. Currently, Pasieka is one of the most attractive residential districts of Opole.
